Drag and drop attachments as you would with other email programs - straight into your message window.

Display Complex HTML

View your complex HTML messages in your mail window, with security precautions - not loading remote images, disabled javascript/embedded objects, an HTML Whitelist, and special precautions for suspected Spam. Click on links to visit the websites in your web browser.

Growl

Balzac emits Growl notifications when it's in the background, so if you're working in another application, you won't need to bring Balzac to the front to know who has emailed you and the subject of their email - it will be displayed briefly on your screen above all windows (or in any other way you choose). For this to work you need to install the growl preference pane.

Feedback

Balzac tries to give you the maximum of feedback possible on the dock icon - there is of course a display of the unread messages count on the dock icon, but during downloads the progress will be shown there as well. You can see the icon glow red when the application connects, to let you know it's online.

Incremental Search

You can search within messages or the main list view using a small unobtrusive search box at the bottom of the window instead of a search dialog which gets in the way of the window you're searching. As you type in letters, the current selection will update to show you the closest match.

Sending HTML messages

You can send HTML messages (including custom style sheets and templates) with Balzac, and include things like headers, lists and tables, which are normally difficult to add to email. Even better, this information is transmitted as simple HTML markup which any email program can interpret and translated to a plain text alternative for those whose email client doesn't display HTML. You can of course choose to send plain text messages too - Balzac will store your preference for each person so that you don't have to set this more than once.
